Traci Reed: Tip Tuesday with From the Garden Kits

Recently, I had a bit of a health scare that kept me from really creating much. After I had resolved it and my health started to improve, I really wanted to document my startlingly quick recovery (modern medicine is magical!) before all the of feelings about what I had been going through started to fade.

Because the pace was so rapid, I decided to document it on a day-by-day basis, but I also wanted all the pages to look like they were telling one story, so I used a few tricks and the  From the Garden Collection to pull them all together!

For the first spread, I settled on documenting the day of the week with the DOTW Washi tape included in the From The Garden Traveler's Notebook Memory Keeping Kit, then carried that tape through all 3 spreads, ensuring that the DOTW would reinforce that particular portion of the storytelling aspect.

For all three pages, I leaned heavily on black and white with pops of color, but because Saturday was the first day I truly started feeling like myself again, I wanted to lean a little heavier into the color for this page, really emphasizing the yellow. If you look at all three pages together though, you can see that they all coordinate beautifully with their very own pops of color reflecting the mood of the page.

The last way I pulled all three pages together was by repeating a couple of motifs: Circles, stamped phrases/flowers, and the black and white sketch flowers throughout. For my Sunday page, I decided to stamp in pink over the black and white floral pad from the Simple Notebook that comes in the  From The Garden Traveler's Notebook Memory Keeping Kit to draw the color from the right to the left and to reinforce the hopeful vibe.
